Whilst I can’t do all of Gary’s daily OSINT challenges I’ll try and get a few done a week!

Next up is this head-scratcher from Amsterdam again, check it out below:

Again I tried to start off by analysing the photo for any stand-out features:

  • Arched glass roof with lightbulbs visible
  • roof seemed to be covered on one side
  • clock hanging on wall
  • White tiles on one wall
  • Large Neon Sushi sign on wall where clock is
  • 3 members of staff working
  • Seat area out front
  • Seem to have tall windows
  • White framed structure outside the restaurant
  • Brick pillars visible
  • Possibly set on a street close to other buildings or even inside as you can see more lightbulbs outside
  • The restaurant cooking area looks to be open to the public on 2 sides
  • Equipment to the left of the staff

There didn’t seem to be any obvious clues to the location for this so I went with the simple option and Google ‘Sushi Restaurants in Amsterdam’

Quite a few here so to try and narrow that down slightly I just added the keyword lightbulbs. This brought me back 8 restaurants and a foodhall.

From here I switched to the satellite terrain option and started to look at each one and the specific features of the buildings

The first target on the list looked promising

But once I looked at Google photos of the actual restaurant nothing matched up with the target info

I then went through each target until I spotted this

The roof definitely caught my attention and as I had noted earlier the target could be inside another larger building. What did Google show?

We can see from above that there are definite similarities between the original target and this building – the lightbulbs, the long windows etc

Let’s have a closer look at the sushi restaurant located within that building – Meneer Temaki.

Lo and behold a quick look through their Facebook photos gave me a nearly identical side view. This was the place!

One thing left to do, find out what the Chefs Special is!

Another great challenge from Gary!
