Get chickens they said, it’ll be easy they said……
One of my long term projects is trying to be more self sustainable. I can see there is a lot of wastage going on with shopping etc and I want to try and do something to combat that.
To that end we got chickens!
We’ve started off with 4 chickens for a number of reasons. Firstly I want to make sure I can actually keep them alive and secondly, I want to understand what the upkeep is of raising chickens for eggs.
I bought what is essentially a dog run off amazon and my wife bought me a chicken coop setup that you can see in the first photo
So far they have all been laying an egg a day so we have 4 in total each morning! We’ve had them a few months now so I’m fairly certain I can keep them alive!
I think it’s time to start adding to the flock and hopefully I can start selling the surplus eggs to my neighbours!
